The City of Rockingham’s free New Year’s Eve Celebration is back with a bang this year, with two fireworks displays and a headline performance by Western Australian rock band Eskimo Joe.
The New Year’s Eve Celebration on Saturday 31 December at Churchill Park, Rockingham, is a major part of the City’s Summer Series of free, family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free events.
Eskimo Joe will be supported by AbbaFab, VHS Pirates, PUMP and a number of other local acts. Fireworks will be at both 9pm and midnight and there will also be free children’s amusement activities, a glitter bar, games trailer, a sensory-friendly chill-out zone and a selection of food vendors available.
City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin said after having to cancel the concert last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the City was excited to be able to continue its tradition of New Year’s Eve performances this year.
“The City of Rockingham’s New Year’s Eve Celebration is a major annual event that attracts thousands of visitors, and we’re looking forward to putting on a great show to farewell 2022,” Mayor Hamblin said.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to see one of WA’s biggest bands perform live and free, and to come together to celebrate and reflect on what has been another busy and at times challenging year.“Our City is the place where the coast comes to life, and we encourage people from far and wide to come visit and see Eskimo Joe (pictured) perform their hits against the backdrop of our beautiful foreshore.”
Additional parking for the event will be available at the Village Green. Visitors can also access additional 555 bus services that will be operating from Rockingham Train Station on a 15-minute frequency between 4pm and 1am.
