Winners announced for 2022 Light Up CH competition

The holiday lights are shining bright in the Central Highlands! With 35 entries and almost 2000 votes in the people’s choice awards, this year’s Light Up CH competition was another success.

Cr. Charlie Brimblecombe, Cr. Anne Carpenter, Cr. Daniels and Mayor Kerry Hayes all took part in driving around the region to admire and judge the festive light displays.

‘I was really impressed by the level of creativity and festive spirit,’ Cr. Brimblecombe said.

‘There was everything from an inflatable Santa riding a shark, to moving light shows and music,’ he said.

Councillor Daniels had a laugh at ‘Santa in a canoe’ that was set up after a major rainfall.

‘My kids and I look forward to this competition every year,’ said Cr. Daniels.

‘It’s a wonderful way to meet your neighbours, and a great excuse to go out for an evening walk.

‘I love how every year the competition gets better, and more people get involved,’ she continued.

This year, the competition was divided into North, East, South, and West/Central regions with a first and second-place winner for each. Winners were also selected for business front, rural fence, overall spirit and people’s choice.
