Lyrup Ferry and Bookpurnong Road Closed

Ferry Closure

We can advise that the Lyrup ferry closed on Wednesday, 30 November 2022 due to high water levels. Alternative river crossings are at Paringa Bridge (upstream) .

It is expected that Morgan Ferry will need to close next week. Further impacts to ferry crossings are expected in the coming weeks.

Remember, conditions can change quickly – roads and ferries may have to be closed at short notice.

Bookpurnong Road, between Berri and Kemp Road, is now closed to all traffic due to rising floodwaters.

A detour is in place via Stanitzki Road to Sturt Highway, through Paringa and Renmark and onto the Old Sturt Highway at Berri.

The road will remain accessible for emergency vehicles while it is safe to do so.

DTI staff are continuing to undertake regular assessments of low-lying roads in the region, and we continue to monitor current and predicted flood levels.

Conditions can change quickly and roads and ferries may have to be closed at short notice.
