Moree Plains Shire Council advises that the boil water alert issued on 11 January 2023 has been lifted and the water supply is deemed safe to drink.
This action has been taken following consultation with NSW Health, Hunter New England Local Health District and the Department of Planning & Environment/Water.
The boil water alert was issued as a precaution and sample results indicate no issue associated with blue-green algae and no toxins are present in the raw water supply. The water treatment plant is operating within specifications.
While the water is considered safe to drink, some residents may continue to experience taste and odour issues. These are however not associated with any health risks.
Council is committed to drinking water quality management and will continue to test and monitor the water supply.
