This initiative gives community members a safe space to cool off during the public holiday, with additional lifeguards, operational staff and security guards supervising the pool from 10am - 6pm.
Developing confidence in the water is an important step towards preventing drowning, as identified in AlburyCity's Inland Waterways Drowning Prevention Strategy.
Noreuil Park and Lake Hume foreshores are among the most popular places in our city to escape the summer heat, however these environments present a higher risk of drowning due to ever changing river conditions, submerged objects, slippery banks, uneven surfaces, cold water and lack of supervision.
Providing free access to our city's swim centres encourages our community to improve their confidence in the water in a fun and safe environment.
