Huon Valley welcomes new citizens

Eight Huon Valley residents became Australian citizens last week at a ceremony held at the Cygnet Town Hall.

Huon Valley Council Mayor Sally Doyle was joined by Huon Valley Council General Manager Jason Browne and Huon Member of the Legislative Council Dean Harris to officially welcome the conferees.

“Our conferees originate from six countries around the world, including Ireland, India, United Kingdom, Greenland, Poland and Italy,” Mayor Doyle said.

“We are delighted they have chosen to call the Huon Valley home and are contributing to making the Huon a positive and enriching place to live”.

In commemoration of this important day, the citizens were presented with a 2023 Australian Citizenship coin and an Australian native plant.
