Community grants are revving up

Posted on February 3, 2023

Submissions for CHRC’s Community Grants program are open now! With over $180,000 up for grabs.

The Emerald Car Club successfully obtained a grant through last year’s Community Grants fund. The grant was utilised to improve their club room by insulating the ceiling and installing colorbond panels.

‘The application process was so much easier this time around,’ Joanne Young, Secretary of the Emerald Car Club said.

‘Our members are over the moon with our ceiling, we are even hosting a wedding here this year. Previously, you could hardly be in our building during summer!’

Having previously applied on the old grants system, Joanne found the Smartygrants platform much simpler. She also had some tips for making a better application.

‘Before submitting, get advice from others, and have someone read over it. The system itself was very easy, but it was good to have multiple people review it,’ she continued.

Round 1 of the 2023 Community Grants is open now. Contact council to speak to an officer for advice on your application. Head here to view eligibility, and to apply via the smartygrants link.

The Emerald Car Club has been running since 1986. The club invites anyone in the region to join, and creates a family-friendly environment. They offer Friday club nights, organise regular cruises to places of interest in the area, and are not picky when it comes to your wheels. Anything with an engine is welcome! The club is always welcoming new members, and there is no better time to join, with yearly memberships running from February 1 until January 31.
