Cardinia Shire residents, landowners and businesses are invited to review the draft Officer Town Centre Urban Design Framework (UDF) 2023 as part of community consultation until Friday 17 March 2023.
Council previously consulted with the community in preparing the draft 2016 UDF and is now undertaking further community engagement to finalise the framework.
The draft 2023 UDF takes into consideration previous community feedback about how people would like to experience the Town Centre and how they would like it to look and feel.
Informing planning-related decision-making for the future Officer Town Centre, it is a long-term strategic vision and aims to achieve Council’s goal of promoting safe and inclusive spaces for communities to live, work and play.
As a planning guideline, the UDF must be consistent with the existing Urban Design Guidelines Victoria, the Cardinia Planning Scheme, and the Officer Precinct Structure Plan.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Tammy Radford said Council wants to ensure the Officer town centre is a vibrant, attractive, and sustainable town centre that residents can enjoy.
“For many years, there has been a lot of interest in the development of the Officer Town Centre and it has been great to see it starting to take shape over the past couple of years.
“The framework includes everything from land use requirements, buildings and parks to information about trees, signs and walking and cycling paths.
“It’s important that our community is part of the process in developing this strategic document, so we can ensure new developments are consistent with the existing character and provide a positive public realm experience,” the Mayor said.
