An Expression of Interest (EOI) is open for community members to join one of the City of Hobart’s new Portfolio Committees.
City of Hobart CEO Kelly Grigsby said it’s a great opportunity to get involved and directly contribute to the policies that will shape our City.
“City of Hobart is establishing Portfolio Committees to help drive evidence-based policy in collaboration with the community. They will provide advice on the development of initiatives and strategies to make Hobart an even better place to live, work and play,” said Ms Grigsby.
“Each committee will be chaired by an elected member and made up of six to 10 community members and subject matter experts who will contribute their ideas, lived experience, community connections, skills and knowledge.
“The 11 committees contribute to every aspect of our City, that’s why we want to include the community on the big ideas for our city. Things like climate change, infrastructure, transport, the economy, parks and waterways, the arts and ensuring Hobart is a welcoming and inclusive city.
“This EOI is open to everyone over the age of 16, and we are committed to making sure the committees represent the diversity of Hobart.
“Sometimes we find that certain people don’t have as much confidence to put themselves forward for these kinds of committees, so I’d like to encourage women, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, young people, LGBTIQ+ people, people with disability and Aboriginal people to also apply.
“The Portfolio Committee model is designed to enhance our engagement with the community and a key role of committee members it to advise Council on how we can best engage and facilitate communication between Council, stakeholders and local communities,” Ms Grigsby said.
Applications close Tuesday 28 February 2023.
