Four talented young achievers riding a wave of success were recognised at last night's council meeting.
Sisters Niamh and Molly Moylan - who toured the US late last year as part of the North East Bushrangers Basketball tour - along with dancer Caitlyn Turner and mountain biker Ben Back received Young Achiever Scheme grants.
The financial assistance has helped them represent Wodonga in their chosen endeavours.
Niamh and Molly enjoyed their nine-day tour of the US where they played in varsity and college games where scouts were in attendance.
The Catholic College Wodonga students also play basketball for the Wodonga Wolves as well as competing at the state school championships.
Caitlyn, a talented dancer and just 12 years old, has been accepted into The Academy Australia's elite dance training program.
Over the summer break, she spent a week on the NSW Central Coast where she trained full-time.
Caitlyn is now working with award-winning choreographs to prepare for new championship solos in local and national competitions and eisteddfods.
She will then train with the academy throughout the year.
Caitlyn is working towards making dancing her profession.
Our fourth recipient, Ben, is a mountain bike rider who last year won the Victorian series overall for the under 15s downhill category, and in 2021, he won the national championship in Bright in the under 13s downhill category.
He was in Thredbo recently to compete in the under 17s National Championships for downhill racing.
The best mountain bike riders from throughout Australia competed in tough terrain.
Congratulations to all of our recipients.
