Entries are now open for the City of Rockingham’s 2023 Castaways Sculpture Awards. This includes entries for the Main Exhibition, Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition and Schools Exhibition.
Castaways is the City’s signature arts and culture event celebrating environmental awareness through artistic innovation.
In 2023 Castaway’s will run from Saturday 21 – Sunday 29 October, with a total prize pool of $27,250 (non-acquisitive) up for grabs.
City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged artists of all ages and skill levels from across the state to submit an entry.
“These annual awards offer WA artists, and local primary and secondary schools the opportunity to develop and showcase their skills by being exhibited in a long-running, high profile event, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Rockingham Foreshore,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“Since 2008 Castaways has seen talented artists create their works using recycled and repurposed materials, and every year it features several thought-provoking pieces that are visually stunning. Such is the quality of work displayed, the City has at times purchased several Castaways pieces to retain in its own art collection.”
We look forward to receiving entries that will be displayed on both the Rockingham Foreshore for the Main Exhibition and Schools Exhibition, and at the Rockingham Arts Centre for the Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition.Entries for Castaways close at midnight on Sunday 28 May 2023.
