The Town of Cottesloe is excited to announce that we have been successful in securing grant funding from Lotterywest for a skate park at John Black Dune Park.
The Town has been working on the Cottesloe skate park project for some time. Our community were consulted along the way and following a number of workshops, a concept plan was developed by skate park designers Convic.
An application for Lotterywest funding was lodged late last year and the Town has just been advised that we have been successful in securing a $743,900 grant, which is expected to cover the full cost of the skate park. This will allow the Town to bring this project to life for our youth. Construction will commence following a tender process for the work.
Town of Cottesloe Mayor Lorraine Young said, “Rigorous consultation demonstrated very strong support for the Cottesloe skate park and it is great to see that this project will now come to life.
“Thanks to our community for their interest in the project, to the Town’s CEO and staff who have worked hard to get this far, and to Lotterywest for their fabulous investment in the youth of Cottesloe.”
With the skate park component funding secure, the Town will continue to work with Cottesloe Coastcare and Perth NRM on the revegetation of John Black Dune Park. Staged revegetation will include planting native and waterwise plants around the skate park, providing additional public open space for the community.
The Town of Cottesloe looks forward to delivering a vibrant outdoor space for children, young people and families in our community to use and enjoy for the future.
