Following an extensive recruitment process, Federation Council is pleased to welcome Theo Panagopoulos into the role of Director of Engineering.

Theo has extensive experience in senior leadership roles in Local Government and is committed to delivering the best possible outcomes for the community, with due consideration to the ongoing sustainability of council operations.

Theo was previously the Manager Infrastructure & Projects at Wodonga City Council. Prior to this, Theo was the Manager Infrastructure & Works, Team Leader Projects and Design, Manager Design and a Senior Projects Engineer. During his tenure at Wodonga City, Theo has also acted in a number of roles including Acting Director Planning & Infrastructure, Acting Manager Planning and Building and Acting Manager Assets.

Federation Council General Manager, Adrian Butler said Theo’s proven track record of delivering innovative outcomes and his passion for the community he serves really stood out among a strong pool of applicants.

“We are delighted to welcome Theo to the team, and with his comprehensive local government knowledge and experience he is already proving himself to be a valuable addition to Council as one of our senior leaders,” he said.

“I look forward to working with Theo, other directors and Council to continue to deliver quality services and outcomes for the betterment of our communities.”

In his role, Theo will be responsible for asset management, project management, road safety, utilities engineering, operational treatment of water and sewer, construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and drainage, waste services, cemeteries and parks and recreation.

Theo, who commenced in his new role in February said he was very excited to be joining the Federation Council team.

“I have lived and worked in Wodonga for the last 18 years and love the region and everything it has to offer,” he said.

“When the role at Federation Council came up, I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to challenge myself and apply the skills I have developed throughout my career here in Federation.  The Delivery Program and Operational Plan are key reporting documents that are one method of letting the community know what's been achieved and what's on the future agenda. In my role as Director Engineering Services, my priorities will be to ensure we deliver on the outcomes as agreed by the community within allocated budgets, agreed timeframes and to a very high standard.”
