Tarneit’s Moondara Street Park has a new lease on life thanks to a $1.2 million Wyndham City upgrade.
Improvements include new playground equipment across two playground areas (for junior and senior play), nature play areas, a half-court with basketball and netball hoop, picnic facilities and BBQ, upgraded pathways and a new circuit path connection, new seating, landscaping upgrades and public toilet facilities.
Wyndham City Active City portfolio holder Councillor Peter Maynard said the Moondara Street Park upgrade will provide Tarneit residents with a much-improved outdoor gathering space and a fun area for children of all ages.
“We know how important it is for Wyndham families to have open spaces close to home,” Cr Maynard said.
“These works will create a more pleasant and welcoming space for the whole family and are part of Council's strategy to address ageing infrastructure within several Wyndham reserves as detailed in the Play Space Strategy and Open Space Strategy.”
“I’d like to thank those Wyndham residents who took the time to tell us what features they wanted to see included during our community consultation process for this project – your invaluable feedback has helped shape the future of Moondara Street Park.”
The official opening of the upgraded Moondara Street Park was celebrated on Saturday with a free BBQ and coffee during the day, followed by food trucks and an evening screening of Bollywood hit Barfi!
Cr Maynard said Wyndham City was investing $19.8 million over 2022/23 on new and improved parks, open spaces and streetscapes to help residents get out of the house, enjoy nature and be active.
“Council also recently completed a $1 million upgrade at Fraser Street Park in Hoppers Crossing, which features new play equipment, pathways, furniture, landscaping and a public toilet facility,” he said.
