Help shape early years services and family friendly spaces in Baw Baw

Published on 10 March 2023

Baw Baw Shire is developing a new Municipal Early Years Infrastructure Plan (MEYIP) to help guide future decisions about Council’s early years’ services, spaces and buildings and is inviting feedback from the community.

The MEYIP details a range of services provided by Council to support the health, development and wellbeing of children and families in Baw Baw Shire, including:

Maternal and child health and immunisation services  Running playgroups and new parent programs  Co-ordinating family day care services  Kindergarten registration  And providing buildings and spaces where early years programs and services can operate from.

As part of maintaining a healthy and thriving environment for young families, Council also provides accessible facilities that are important in the lives of children and families, including playgrounds and open spaces, swimming pools and leisure centres, libraries, community events and social support services.

To develop a greater understanding of the current and future needs of children aged 0 – 8 years, including the services and infrastructure they may require, community members are invited to provide their feedback to help inform the MEYIP.

How you can get involved:

There are several ways to provide your feedback to be a part of planning for children and families in Baw Baw Shire by:

Completing an online survey. Completing a short postcard style survey that will soon be distributed to community places like kindergartens, childcare centres and libraries.  Participating in one of our pop-up engagement interviews.  Stay tuned for more information about the location, times and dates.   Emailing us at [email protected]

Quote attributable to Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe  "Our new Municipal Early Years Infrastructure Plan provides a roadmap for the infrastructure requirements and areas of change to better support early years services for our youngest residents and their families.

We’re inviting community members, relevant agencies, early years’ service providers and educators to provide their feedback via the survey, email or drop-in sessions."
