Wyndham City’s Youth Services is delighted to be hosting a free Harmony Day celebration in conjunction with the Wyndham Humanitarian Network.
The theme for 2023 is Everyone Belongs and is hosted by young leaders representing Wyndham Advocates for Multicultural Youth and Wyndham City Multicultural Youth Committee.
Wyndham City’s Deputy Mayor and Welcoming Cities portfolio holder, Cr Jennie Barrera, said: “Harmony Day is a significant celebration in Wyndham. We encourage everyone to come along and join in the cultural festivities – where everyone belongs.”
“Wyndham is home to many different cultures. Harmony Day is a great opportunity to bring our community together to celebrate all cultures, embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common with one another.”
“The cultural performances will be entertaining and dazzling. With performances from different cultural groups including the Māori, Fijian, Samoan, Tongan, Burmese, Karenni, Chin, Karen, Somali, Sierra Leone, Philippines and One Spirit of Africa”.
The Multicultural Runway will feature a range of cultural and traditional dress with lots of colour and glamour.
“Harmony Day will be a family friendly event and a fabulous cultural celebration with activities, cultural performances, fashion parade featuring cultural and traditional clothes, food and drinks, music and footy giveaways,” Cr Barrera said.
The event will be held on Saturday 18 March from 11am to 4pm, indoors at the Youth Resource Centre, 86 Derrimut Road, Hoppers Crossing.
