The City of Fremantle has partnered with Business Events Perth to launch its latest pitch to attract a share of the lucrative business events and travel market.
The campaign, featuring videos with four local industry leaders, aims to leverage Fremantle’s strategic position close to the Western Trade Coast and the city’s strong connection to maritime, logistics and defence industries, the arts, blue economy, sustainability and innovation.
Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said Fremantle was a destination that offered a memorable experience to conference delegates, both at the conference and outside the formal program of events.
“The opening of Walyalup Civic Centre and FOMO, along with new hotels and hospitality venues, means Fremantle is in a strong position to pitch for this business,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
“The city offers the complete experience for delegates in one of the most eclectic and spirited seaside destinations in the world.
“For this campaign we approached four representatives from key industry sectors inviting them to talk about doing business in Fremantle.
“Their insights act as powerful testimonials from Fremantle-based businesses, each of which are innovators and leaders in their fields, as to why the city has strong appeal to host conferences and events.”
Business Events Perth Chief Executive Officer Gareth Martin said the recurring theme throughout the campaign is Fremantle’s unique event spaces, diverse accommodation options, award-winning restaurants and bars, boutique shops and Fremantle’s collaborative community of businesses ready to host events.
“Fremantle offers delegates so many benefits beyond the conference environment, it’s a colourful tapestry of heritage buildings, street art, little laneways, local characters, culinary delights and natural landscapes.
“There are also many exciting tourism experiences and attractions to offer inspiration for pre and post conference touring and partner programs.
“From the otherworldly collision of musical and creative culture, and world class food and wine; delegates attending events in Fremantle can truly discover why TIME® calls Freo one of the World's Greatest Places.
“We’re excited to be working with the City of Fremantle to ensure business event clients are aware of the changes that have taken place in Fremantle over the past few years, making it a vibrant business event destination.
“This project provides business event organisers the valuable tools to present Fremantle as a unique business event destination.”
The new campaign is the second time the City of Fremantle has secured matched funding to promote Fremantle to the business events market.
The 2022 project follows the successful launch of the THIS IS BUSINESS video in 2021, which saw the City working with Fremantle's hoteliers and venue owners to showcase their product through a virtual tour of Fremantle.
The videos will be distributed through the City of Fremantle's destination marketing channels including visitfremantle.com.au, LinkedIn, participating partners, Business Events Perth and Business Events Australia.
