Lithgow Library will be celebrating Harmony Day on Wednesday 22 March at 10.30am.
The event includes an Indian themed story time with stories, craft, Bollywood dancing, henna hand painting and a taste of Indian food.
Mayor Maree Statham said “Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. Everyone is welcome to come along and participate and celebrate what Harmony Day is all about. Everyone is encouraged to wear orange, as orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect”.
This year’s Harmony Day theme is “Living in Harmony”. Harmony Day is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.
Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
Come along and celebrate!
