Join Central Coast Council in partnership with Woy Woy Little Theatre to attend this one-off Directing Masterclass with established theatre director Kate Jane Gaul and special guest Jane Phegan.

Held at The Peninsula Theatre, the participation cost is the price of a purchased ticket to see The End of Winter (price Adult $29 or Con $22) and is a pre-requisite to attending.  Reservations of your place in the Masterclass can be confirmed by emailing Woy Woy Little Theatre ([email protected]) once The End of Winter ticket is purchased.

Kate will lead an inspiring and challenging program designed to have you thinking more imaginatively about what it is to be on stage. Kate will be joined by actor Jane Phegan, the 2022 recipient of Sydney Theatre Awards Best Performer in a Leading Role in an Independent Production Award for The End of Winter.  The workshop is ideally targeted to theatre practitioners eager to explore new styles of production and directing new Australian contemporary works.  The workshop will focus on artistic decisions from the production The End of Winter.

Kate Gaul - Producer & Director

Kate Gaul is a theatre and opera director, creative producer, festival director, and designer based in Sydney, NSW.  She is a graduate of National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA, Directing 1996) and Artistic Director of Siren Theatre Co.  Kate undertook a residency with SITI Company (NYC) and was Associate Director at Ensemble Theatre.  Kate has established herself as a distinctive and inventive director, with directing credits including plays, opera, physical theatre, devised works, and classics for theatre companies and schools in Australia.  She is Artistic Director of Siren Theatre Co where her passion is for text-based drama challenging artists and audiences to have bold imaginative experiences.  Kate has also directed festivals (World Interplay, Playlist, Invisible Circus, Cabaret, and Short Play Festivals) and Sydney Mardi Gras Parade.  www.kategaul.com

Jane Phegan - Actor

Recent credits include Wherever She Wanders (Griffin), The Campaign (White Box/Seymour) Black Drop Effect (Sydney Festival/Bankstown Arts Centre), Small Mouth Sounds (Darlinghurst) Lost Boys and Letters to Lindy (Merrigong), Good People (Ensemble) Honchos Meeting in Cowra (Tinkogun Theatre, Tokyo), Beautiful One Day (Belvoir/Ilbijerri/version1.0)  From 2005-14, Jane devised and performed in all of version 1.0's major works including The Table of Knowledge, THIS KIND OF RUCKUS (Helpmann Award, Best Physical / Visual Theatre) and Deeply Offensive & Utterly Untrue (Drover Award, Best Touring Show).  She has toured nationally and internationally, voiced radio plays for ABC and Eastside, worked in film and TV and on several new scripts with PWA.  A graduate of Theatre Nepean (UWS), Jane also has a degree in Fine Art and Performance Studies from University of Sydney.  She is a proud member of Equity.  For Siren Theatre Co: Good With Maps, The Ham Funeral, The Trouble With Harry, As You Like It, The New Electric Ballroom, Fox.
