Yorke Peninsula Council is excited to announce YorKON Games Convention is returning these April school holidays.

YorKON 2023 will be held at the Maitland Town Hall on Saturday, 22 April from 10am-7pm and Sunday, 23 April from 10am-3pm.

The free event provides the local community, especially young people and their families, with the unique opportunity to engage in a fun and social games event.

The two-day convention includes free play computer, retro games, arcade games, workshops, table top games and a costume competition.

This year, YorKON is set to be better than ever with new interactive activities including a self-guided Minecraft themed orienteering activity and jumbo sized build and play Minecraft scenes.

“Council was excited to hold its first YorKON Games Convention since the Covid-19 pandemic last year,” Mayor Darren Braund said.

“The event was a huge hit with young people and their families and we look forward to it growing bigger and better this year.”

Attendees are encouraged to get into the spirit by dressing with a Best Costume Prize winner announced each day at 2pm.

During the event, attendees can enter a competition to win a signed framed exhibition quality print of Obi Wan Kenobi (TV mini series) by Mark Raats.

YorKON Games Convention is for all ages, with the exception of a secure 15+ session (content rated as PG and M classifications), held on both days.

Partners include Team AvCon, Copper Coast Table Top Gamers, Retrospekt, Little Adventurers and Southern Dewback Garrison – 501st Legion, Cold Creature Art, Ben’s IT Communications and Maitland and District Progress Association.
