Samson Tree Festival

1–5pm, Sat 29 April | Sir Frederick Samson Park, Samson

As the weather cools and winds swing around to the southwest; this is Djeran, the season of flowering banksia.

Join us in celebrating our local trees at Samson Park, one of the Fremantle's only bush forever sites.

Bring a picnic and enjoy some live music from Natasha Eldridge and friends, learn about Samson Park bushland and its habitats, join in on a cultural walk or hear all about nest box monitoring with Simon Cherriman.

There will be kids activities, info stalls and a scavenger hunt to top off a day of fun.

Selecting, planting and caring for your trees

9–10am, Sat 15 April | Griffiths Park, Hilton

Join the City’s arborist Jeremy Thomas for a walk in the park to learn how to choose suitable trees for your specific situation and the basics of tree care.

Fremantle Environmental Collective will also be there to facilitate a last opportunity to request a street tree before the allocation ends for 2023.

Free street trees can also be requested by submitting an online application here or calling us on 1300 MY FREO (1300 693 736). Our team will then be in touch between April and May to talk to you about what is most suitable for your verge. Planting occurs between April and July each year to give your tree the best chance of survival.

Selecting, planting and caring for your trees is a free event, however RSVPs are essential. Book your spot here.
