Precautionary boiled water alert lifted, Moranbah

Isaac Regional Council would like to thank the vast majority of the community who have been patient and understanding as operators worked to resolve the water issues in Moranbah over the past few days.

Council operators and officers have gone above and beyond to ensure the water network returned to normal.

This afternoon Queensland Health supports Council in lifting the precautionary boiled water alert following continued satisfactory results from nationally accredited testing laboratories.

The high turbidity levels were caused by a mechanical malfunction at the water treatment plant.

Council has already begun an internal investigation into the root causes of the incident with a view to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

There may be milky appearances in water coming out of residents’ taps as it was caused by air in the network while we lowered the reservoir levels.

There are no direct health issues associated with the milky appearance. Ultimately, this is part of returning the water network to normal operations.

The drinking water tanker will still be available tonight until 9pm as scheduled. Remember to share this information with your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.

If you require further information, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 1300 ISAACS (1300 472 227).
