Connecting Gannawarra survey deadline extended

Published on 31 March 2023

Residents wanting to help shape community plans for six Gannawarra Shire communities now have an extra two weeks to do so.

Gannawarra Shire Council has extended the deadline for the Connecting Gannawarra survey, with responses now accepted up to 5pm Friday, 14 April.

The 14-question survey will assist project facilitators to guide local community planning outcomes for the Lakes District, Lalbert, Leitchville, Macorna/Tragowel, Murrabit/Myall/Benjeroop, and Quambatook communities.

“This Agriculture-Dependent Community Resilience Project builds on work undertaken since 2008 to create documents that capture a community’s voice for what is important to them and strengthen opportunities to obtain funding to make these long-term goals a reality,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

The 14-question Connecting Gannawarra survey is available to complete online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/ConnectingGannawarra or from the following locations:

Lake Charm Service Station Lalbert Recreation Reserve Leitchville Post Office Murrabit Trading Mystic Park Hotel Quambatook Stores Sir John Gorton Library, Kerang

“The survey is one of many ways residents are participating in this exciting project, with Council thanking all who have attended community drop-in sessions, meeting or listening posts held throughout March,” Mr Rollinson said.

Council is also interested in hearing from young people from each district, with residents aged 12-24 years who complete the survey to be in the running to win one of four $50 gift cards.

“The final versions of these community plans will help determine future goals for each community, so it is important our future leaders take the opportunity to outline what they would like to see occur in their local community,” Mr Rollinson said.

“Council and the project’s facilitators look forward to using all feedback collected via completed surveys and from residents who attended in-person gatherings to develop draft versions of community plans for each participating community, which will be available for further feedback later this year.”
