The next stage of Point Cook’s Brookdale Road Reserve is now complete.

A baseball and softball field that includes behind diamond fencing, a batting cage structure and baseball clay surface is now open to the public, marking completion of stage two of the $5.6 million reserve.

This follows the opening of a new playground, ninja warrior course, exercise area, landscaping and car park in late 2022.

The facilities are now open for informal community use and formal hire, and organised baseball and softball club activities are planned to commence in the lead-up to the 2023/24 summer season.

Meanwhile, a modular sporting pavilion that will service the baseball and softball field is currently in the design phase and is expected to be completed, alongside associated landscaping, in late 2023.

Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio holder, Councillor Peter Maynard, said he was thrilled to see the continued progress being made at Brookdale Road Reserve.

“This latest addition to Brookdale Road Reserve will play host to both established and new sporting clubs and organisations, providing fit-for-purpose facilities for training and competition,” Cr Maynard said.

“Wyndham City consulted widely with the community about what they wanted to see at Brookdale Road Reserve and we were told loud and clear that it needed to provide a range of open space facilities where people can engage in healthy activity and come together as a community.”

“I’m proud to say we’re delivering on this brief and are giving Point Cook’s growing population first-class sporting and recreation facilities.”

“It is important to note that this reserve is also environmentally friendly, using energy efficient LED sportsground lighting and an automated irrigation system using recycled water.”
