Moree Plains Shire Council is committed to taking meaningful action to collate information that will provide insight and visibility to improve the coordination and range of services available to the Moree Plains community.
Currently, the Moree Plains has over 70 service providers representing our shire, with this project aimed to help and scope the Moree Plains Service footprint.
This project will provide a detailed analysis of delivery organisations across five domains, Crime Prevention and Justice, Education, Health & Healing, Housing and Youth.
To assist in this project, Council and Regional NSW have engaged the services of Kate Baxter a highly regarded consultant, and CEO of Red Earth Advisory.
Kate has worked extensively across rural NSW in community services and health, and vocational education and training with her recent project being with the Cross Border Commission to undertake the Service Mapping Project for Boggabilla and Toomelah.
A lot of her experience and expertise has been in the Western and New England regions of New South Wales which gives her valuable insight into the challenges experienced in remote areas.
In 2018, Kate received a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to education administration in rural NSW, to training programs for Indigenous students and to the community.
Red Earth Advisory will be looking at the Community perspectives on the availability and accessibility of service provision across locations, identifying service duplication and gaps and looking for opportunities for collaboration across services/domains.
General Manager, Nick Tobin said, “Red Earth Advisory will be working from the ground up to understand what would work best for our Community and Local Government Area (LGA).”
Council is expecting the consultant to undertake extensive engagement with the community both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, to understand their view on effective community service provision for our LGA.
The consultant will be attending the Moree, Mungindi and Boggabilla Community Connect days in April and visiting services face to face during April through to July 2023.
