Planned burn: Birkdale – 19 April 2023
Redland City Council 17 Apr 2023

Redland City Council’s Parks and Conservation crews along with Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES), will conduct a hazard reduction burn in a section of bushland within the Birkdale Community Precinct on Wednesday 19 April 2023, weather permitting.

The location of the burn is 362-388 Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale.

The purpose of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest litter fuel, which will assist with hazard reduction – reducing the fire danger and providing conditions essential for native regeneration.

Preparation of the site will be undertaken in the days leading up to the date of the burn and will consist of clearing around significant logs and habitat trees. Some limited test burning may be conducted during this time.

It is appreciated that the burn may cause some inconvenience, however all attempts will be made to limit any smoke hazards.
