Join in the fun and fitness of the Active Tarneit, a series of free sessions and events that will run until July.
A broad program of sport, fitness and recreation activities for all ages is being delivered at community centres, parks and other locations in Tarneit.
This includes the familiar fitness favourites and unfamiliar programs such as women’s only boxing, children’s skateboarding lessons and toddler holiday programs.
Active Tarneit is part of the Tarneit Revitalisation Program, which supports programs that contribute to creating a suburb that is cherished by locals for its active public spaces, a vibrant civic heart and expanding business ecosystem.
Wyndham City’s Action City Portfolio holder, Councillor Peter Maynard said it was great to see the program return.
“We’ve seen this program grow from strength to strength since it started in 2021,” he said. “It’s wonderful to see the Tarneit community embracing and enjoying opportunities for fitness and fun.”
The Active Tarneit programs and sessions are delivered by Reclink and community providers.
“People keep telling us how much they’re enjoying the programs we’re running”, said Jasmine Griffiths, Reclink Sports Coordinator. “We now regularly have over 300 people each week attending our sessions and having a great time.”
Active Tarneit is a Wyndham City project made possible with the support of the Tarneit Revitalisation Board and funding from the Victorian Government. For more information visit: https://www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/activetarneit
