Round One of Council’s Community Grants Programme will open on Monday, 1 May 2023 to assist in funding activities, programs, or services that are to be delivered between 1 July 2023 and 31 December 2023.
The Program is designed to assist community groups and organisations to deliver activities, programs and/or services of an artistic, cultural, recreational, sporting or other community related pursuit by providing grants in an equitable and accountable manner.
Councillor Sonia Bennetto said not-for-profit groups have the opportunity to apply for monetary or in-kind support, to assist and encourage new and diverse events, projects or services to be developed and delivered in the Region.
“Council's Community Grants serve as an integral source of funding for many community organisations, providing seed funding to support applicants in their efforts to become self-sufficient. The Community Grants Programme assists in funding the delivery of much needed equipment and facilities for local groups, for the benefit of the wider community."
“The Community Grants can also help in the reduction of costs associated with planning and running of events or programs for the community.” said Cr Bennetto.
The last round of recipients included Zonta Club of Charters Towers, Pentland Progress Association, North Queensland Offroad Racing Association, Charters Towers Burnout Club, Charters Towers Charity Ball Association, Charters Towers Rodeo Association, and Charters Towers RSL.
“It’s wonderful to see so many local organisations applying for assistance,” Cr Bennetto said.
Sports, recreation, arts, and other community-related groups are encouraged to apply.
Applications that demonstrate a significant benefit to the broader community and Region, will be considered favourably.
Round One closes on Friday, 26 May 2023.
