Council has an ongoing program of capital works and upgrades to buildings, parks, playgrounds and roads across the Federation Council Region. The following activities were undertaken during March 2023 by Federation Council’s Works teams.
• Corowa – Mulwala Cycleway: Remaining gravel sections prepped for sealing with seal booked for early April subject to contractors’ availability and weather permitting.
• Balldale Road 8km reconstruction: LRCI Grant Works completed on the first 1.9km section with construction of new 9m wide formation, batters and 200mm gravel pavement approx. and sealed. Works have commenced on next 1.3km section.
• Federation Way Upgrade: HVSPP Grant Completion of works on Federation Way south of Daysdale township to floodway. Works include – earthworks, formation, batters, gravel pavement, new seal, guideposts and signage.
• Maintenance Grading/Flood Repairs: Corona Road (north end), Jamiesons Road, Naughtins Road, Tom Roberts Road, (wet hire contractor), Telephone Lane, Emu Park Road.
• Road Side Rural Slashing: Redlands Road, Rennie Road, Humeden Road, Boat Rock Road, Bull Plain Road.
• Table drain Maintenance: Table drain Maintenance carried in urban and rural drains, only in zones where no impact can be made on the Sloanes Froglet (between April and October breeding season).
• Sealed Roads: Pothole repairs on sealed urban and rural roads with the Corowa based Flocon patching truck when staff available and the Urana based Jet Master patching truck.
• Sundry Crew: Installation of all road signs, guide post and all general maintenance needs within the Shire Floating plant around to multiple job sites. Culvert cleaning, Rand. Repairing collapsed culvert Boree Creek. Tree trimming. Causeway repairs at Bynedale Rd. Assist construction and Flocon crews to cover staff leave and vacancies.
• Heavy Trucks: Balldale Road Reconstruction & Federation Way Upgrade Cart excess spoil to Corowa & Howlong Landfills for cover & capping. Carting of aggregate for Council patching trucks and sealing contractors. Carting gravel to stockpile. Carting gravel for re-sheeting program.
• Slasher: Continuing slashing throughout council. Operator is being redeployed to other tasks as required.
• FLR Program - Traffic Facilities (Sundry Crew:) Continue audit of signs & guideposts for upgrade/replacement in urban streets and rural roads. Commence replacement program of signs & guideposts including upgrades as required.
• Customer Requests: Numerous Customer Requests responded to for drainage, potholes, signs and footpaths.
