Wyndham City is proud to announce Raidah Parvez as the One Wyndham recipient for May.
Raidah is passionate about helping others and advocating for social justice and ensuring there are equitable opportunities for everyone to participate.
Raidah has volunteered for the past four years on Council’s Multicultural Youth Committee. She has worked with young people in our community from different cultural backgrounds to plan and host events for the community with the aim to raise awareness of diverse cultural celebrations and to highlight the issues that multicultural youth face.
Raidah advocated at the Western Youth Forum for improved and equitable access for culturally and linguistically diverse young people to be able to participate and access sport.
She also raised awareness of the financial barriers people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds face in participating in sport and accessing sporting facilities.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, said: “Raidah has contributed to creating an inclusive and accepting Wyndham. Through assisting with events such as Harmony Day and Refugee week, Raidah has raised awareness of different cultures and traditions.”
“Wyndham City thanks and appreciates the contribution Raidah has made and continues to make to the Wyndham community.”
One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 and 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.
Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘Young Person of the Month’.
Winners are awarded a $300 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
