National Volunteer Week, the largest volunteering annual celebration, returns for 2023 – the theme this year being ‘the Change Makers’

Designed to raise awareness about the vital support that millions of volunteers provide throughout Australia and Wyndham, National Volunteer Week runs from 15 to 21 May 2023.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, said: “Volunteers are the heart of our community and it’s important to recognise and celebrate all volunteers in our City.”

“National Volunteer Week is the perfect time to acknowledge and thank all the volunteers in Wyndham.”

“Volunteers play a vital role assisting others and make a significant contribution to the community,” Cr McIntyre said.

“On behalf of Council and the wider community we appreciate the instrumental role that volunteers play in our community – those who give their time for others for good intentions, to be helpful and show kindness.”

“Volunteers help our community in a wide range of ways from helping out at sporting clubs and associations to volunteer emergency services, preserving and protecting the environment, raising money for charities, as well as visiting socially isolated people that are lonely and need companionship.”

“Thank you to the many Wyndham volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations for your dedication and commitment.”

“During National Volunteering Week, Wyndham City will be running information sessions to help you start your volunteering journey: Step Into Volunteering – Volunteering as a Pathway to Employment and Volunteering in Retirement.”
