By answering some simple questions, and bringing big ideas, Corangamite residents and businesses can help their community grow and prosper.
After previous consultation last year, Corangamite Shire Council has released a “discussion paper” outlining the community’s needs, opportunities and aspirations for the local economy.
Mayor Ruth Gstrein said more public comments are now being sought to finetune a framework which will lay out specific actions to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for the community.
“The discussion paper brings together a range of big ideas from our community and businesses on how we can work together toward overall economic wellbeing.
“It looks at current trends and the state of our local economy following several years of significant disruption.
“We’re asking the community to read the paper and give their feedback to help shape the ‘Grow and Prosper Framework’ and separate action plans for:
• The Visitor Economy;
• Creative Industries;
• Events and Festivals;
• The Circular Economy;
• Population Attraction and Retention; and
• Priority Industry Sectors.
“We want to turn the community’s vision to be thriving and prosperous into something tangible and real.
“‘Grow and Prosper Corangamite’ is an exciting idea that will allow different parts of our community to work together for a thriving and prosperous local economy and community.
“We’re calling on residents and businesses to be ambitious and tell us what they would like to happen in our Shire over the next 10 years and how they might play a part.”
Residents are invited to read the discussion paper and answer the questions here or call 5593 7100 for a hardcopy.
