Show your Queensland pride at parkrun event

Posted on May 23, 2023

What better way to celebrate Queensland Day than to lace up your shoes and pound the pavement at Emerald parkrun in the amazing winter sunshine!

Emerald parkrun, an established and well supported community event since 2017 with an average finishing rate of 105 participants per week is once again partnering with council to host a Queensland Day themed parkrun event.

Mayor Kerry Hayes reflected on the continuing partnership between council and the parkrun coordinators and is pleased to see this relationship continue into the future.

‘Queensland is the best place to live, we have what feels like endless sunshine and great weather which supports active lifestyles and of course the sense of community that goes with that,’ he said.

‘It’s only fitting that we jump into our maroon gear, head to the parkrun track and give it a go to celebrate Queensland Day in style,’ he continued.

The Queensland Day parkrun starts at 7.00 am on Saturday 10 June 2023 at the Emerald Botanic Gardens McIndoe Park entrance and will have a BBQ breakfast at the finish line.
