Annual Plan & Budget Estimates 2023-24 : Community Feedback

The Burnie City Council is inviting feedback from the Burnie community on its draft 2023-24 Annual Plan and Budget Estimates(PDF, 88MB) as part of a 21 day public exhibition process.

In order to ensure our community can be informed about what the Council plans to do in the upcoming financial year, there will be four (4) pop up information sessions for you to come along to and hear about the Annual Plan and Budget Estimates from the Director Corporate and Commercial Services, Bel Lynch.

A webinar meeting is also available to join on Wednesday 7 June 2023 commencing at 5:30pm until 7pm.

Once our community are informed about what is proposed, we encourage them to get involved by providing their thoughts as part of the community feedback process. 

Acting Mayor Simpson said “this is a fantastic opportunity for Council to hear your thoughts on what we have proposed.  We value everyone’s input and know that diversity of opinion achieves the best outcomes for all.

While we are not able to carry through on every suggestion made – we will ensure that every suggestion submitted through the community feedback process is considered before determining the final budget which we expect at this stage to be tabled to the Council meeting on 27 June 2023.  At that time we will report back to the community on the feedback received and our associated response.”

To help provide your feedback, a survey is available online (from 9am - Wednesday 24 May 2023) where you can comment on:  

The direction the Council is taking in its Council Plan 2022-25 The range of services the Council provides (are there additional services or activities you feel the Council should be delivering?) Ways you think the proposed budget could be improved to better service the lifestyles and aspirations of our Burnie City residents and ratepayers The balance between the provision of Council’s core services and the civic needs of the community The proposed rate increase. Is it considered affordable for the majority of the community? The level of investment the Council is making into its existing assets The capital works program proposed Asset improvement projects that you feel should be included in the capital works program? (have we missed anything?) The community grants the Council proposes to support The Council’s core financial statements
