Floral festival fans rejoice! The popular Northwood Community Festival is set to return to West Leederville this year, and the Town of Cambridge is proudly sponsoring the event.
At an ordinary council meeting held on Tuesday 23 May, Councillors approved $29,000 in funding for the Flower District to deliver the event in collaboration with local businesses and residents.
Formed in 2020, the Flower District is a not-for-profit volunteer organisation made up of West Leederville residents, businesses and organisations focused on making West Leederville a more vibrant place to live, work and play.
The festival is planned for Saturday, 7 October and provides an opportunity for West Leederville locals to connect while fostering a sense of pride and belonging. The festival also aims to educate eventgoers about the area's rich cultural history and the significance of its built heritage.
The Flower District has expressed that the event would not be viable without the Town’s financial support, highlighting the significance of this sponsorship.
The Town will work collaboratively with the Flower District to support successful delivery of the community festival and will explore opportunities to engage the wider West Leederville community on other relevant projects.
The Council's decision to approve the sponsorship demonstrates its ongoing commitment to supporting community-led initiatives and fostering a strong sense of local unity and pride.
The Northwood Community Festival promises to be a memorable event, bringing together residents, local businesses, and visitors for a day of celebration and connection.
