A tendering process is underway to repair land slippage at Esplanade, Wellington Point.

The embankment slipped during severe weather events in February 2022 and blocked a popular walking track in Wellington Point Recreation Reserve.

The track remains closed, but the reserve can still be accessed via Main Road.

Slope stabilisation is technically challenging work that requires specialist consultants and contractors, and can take longer than more straightforward projects.

The planned reconstruction works will include first stabilising the embankment followed by replacing the walking track.

Council is committed to ensuring the work is completed to a high standard while minimising the risks and impacts involved.

Depending on contractor availability and weather, the works are scheduled for completion within the 2023-2024 financial year.

Council appreciates the community’s patience while we work with specialised organisations on this challenging reconstruction project, and will keep the community updated on its progress.
