The Shire of Capel progressing with the strategic initiative to identify and develop a new Agribusiness Precinct within the District, over the medium to longer term.
The engagement of a consultant in the next 2 to 3 weeks will see Phase 1 of this process commence. Phase 1 outcomes will include and completed by the end of 2023:
• Industry, Government and Key Stakeholder Engagement. • Demand (Current and Future) and Opportunity Identification. • Site Identification and Analysis (Opportunities and Constraints) – including draft masterplanning, order of magnitude costings and high-level development guidance.
Project governance for Phase 1 will comprise an appointed Project Steering Group and a Stakeholder Working Group.
The Agribusiness Precinct Stakeholder Working Group will provide advice to the Shire of Capel, the Project Steering Group (PSG) and the engaged consultant to fully understand the current and future industry needs and demands for the South West’s agricultural, processing, logistics and transport industries.
The SWG will assist the PSG and the engaged consultant to ensure maximum industry / stakeholder participation in a series of workshops aimed at:
• Capturing comprehensive information from all sectors, • Developing a full understanding of current and future industry demands, needs and opportunities; and • Assisting the consultant to complete an Engagement Overview Report.
The SWG will also provide advice on potential sites within the Shire of Capel and surrounding districts identified, as well as assist in the consideration of site factors, to ensure that any fatal flaws are identified, and full development potential of all elements can be realised in the future.
With this in mind, the Shire of Capel seeks Expression of Interest from various sector and industry representatives to be part of the Stakeholder Working Group.
