Central Highlands Regional Council will have ongoing hazard reduction burn notifications going out over the next few months.
Every year, Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES) responds to fires that threaten people, property and the environment.
It is important that community members are prepared now for bushfire season (approximately July until October). This can be done by:
Clear gutters and roof of leaves, twigs, bark and other debris Ensure your lawn is mowed regularly and dry grass/leaf litter are at a minimum Pack an emergency kit (see more here)‘Hazard reduction burns are an important step in fire safety for our communities’, General Manager Communities John McDougall said.
‘The burns will take place in controlled environments, weather permitting.
‘This may result in a smoke hazard for the immediate area. Extra care should be taken during those times,’ he said.
