To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 14 June Council meeting.      

Petitions Trafalgar Car Parking Study Petition

A petition with 663 signatories from Trafalgar Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. was submitted to have the parking recommendations that were approved by Council on Wednesday 24 May 2023 rescinded.

A Council report in response to this petition will be provided to Council in no later than six Council meetings time.

Community Infrastructure Long Term Infrastructure Plan 2023/2024-2032/33

Council adopted the Long Term Infrastructure Plan 2023/24-2032/33 that outlines the infrastructure programs and projects for delivery by Council over the next 10 years, including the proposed 2023/2024 Capital Works Program. 

Baw Baw Culture and Connection Precinct Stage 1, Library and Learning Centre- Budget and funding options 

Council adopted the recommendations in the Baw Baw Culture and Connection Precinct Stage 1 Library and Learning Centre- Budget and funding options report for the revised budget and proposed funding.

They also supported an application for funding for this project through the federal Governments Growing Regions Program, the Victorian Governments Regional Infrastructure Program and other grant opportunities that align with this project.

Strategy and Organisational Performance Community Grants Policy

Council adopted the Community Grants Policy which is aimed at making the Community Grants Program simpler and more inclusive. 

The Community Grants Policy will override the Community Grants content within the Community Financial Assistance Policy for the period until the latter policy is revised by Council.

Q3 2022/23 Combined Performance Report 

Council adopted the Quarterly Performance Report for quarter 3 (Q3) for the 2022/2023 financial year.

Revised Council Plan 2021-2025 for adoption

Council adopted the revised Council Plan 2021-2025 for the 2023/24 financial year.

Adoption of the annual Budget 2023/24, Revenue and rating Plan 2023/24 and Financial Plan 2023/24-2032/33

In accordance with Council's Community Engagement Policy, Council invited submissions on the Draft Annual Budget 2023/24, Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2023/24 and Financial Plan. 

Council received 81 submissions which provided a range of feedback for Council to consider. 

Council adopted the Annual Budget 2023/24 (including the Schedule of Fees and Charges), the Revenue and Rating Plan 2023/24 and the Financial Plan 2023/24-2032/33.  

Governance and Information Services Instrument of Appointment and Authorisation under the Planning and Environment Act 1987

Council endorsed the recommendation that Council authorise the appropriate Baw Baw Shire Council Staff under section 147(4) of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, section 224 of the Local Government Act 1989, and section 313 of the Local Government Act 2020 and seals the instrument. 

Bereavement Motion - Chlorie Bottrell

Cr Kostos tabled a Bereavement Motion to honour the late Angela Betheras.

Mayoral Minute

Cr Annemarie McCabe used her Mayoral Minute to thank the many officers involved in putting together the Annual Budget and other key documents.

Baw Baw Shire Council have reopened Council Meetings to members of the public.
