Isaac Regional Council road crews have increased the inspections along Golden Mile Road ahead of $4 million scheduled maintenance works this September.
The existing road was never designed for the volume and numbers of heavy vehicles currently using the link and this, in conjunction with the impact of the wet weather on the black soil, is the main cause of the continuing road maintenance challenges.
Council has been undertaking works to ensure the road does not deteriorate any further in anticipation of the upcoming major rehabilitation works.
Council ask for all road users to exercise patience and maintain caution on the road before, during and after the works.
It is important for everyone’s safety to follow the traffic management and directional signage at the site. This includes reducing the speed to 40km through affected sections.
The pavement rehabilitation project is currently out for tender and will close on Monday, 10 July 2023.
Works are scheduled to begin from September 2023, weather permitting.
This project is a partnership between the Australian and Queensland Governments in association with Isaac Regional Council.
