Great games, amazing activities and exciting events are just around the corner! Check out the fantastic events running these school holidays including events celebrating NAIDOC Week which runs from July 2 – 9.

Whether you live, work, study or are visiting Fremantle the City is hosting a range of great activities this July!  

NAIDOC Community Event

Tuesday 27 June | 3 – 5pm | Fremantle PCYC | FREE

Come along and enjoy a celebration to the start of NAIDOC Week! Learn more about The Voice from our reconciliation volunteers. Special guests and performances, children’s activities, traditional face painting and tattoos, nature play zone, Aboriginal inspired foods and more!

Ever wondered what you are looking at on food labels? This practical session will teach you how to read labels and then use this information to compare products and make informed decisions. Not only will this workshop inform you about food labels, but it will also help you to identify what is right for you.

Freo Builds Trail 

Thursday 6 – Monday 12 July | 11am–4pm | Fremantle Visitor Centre and locations across Freo | FREE

You haven’t seen Perth’s historic port city like this before! A crane-tastic theme park, robot librarians, rainbow sky trains – find out what happens when Freo’s future is imagined by WA children and created by Perth’s best LEGO® builders.

Follow the trail to find six futuristic Freo Builds (suitable for kids aged 2-12 years) and look out for special offers and bonus activities along the way!

School Holiday NAIDOC Week fun

Wed & Thur 5, 6, 12 & 13 July | 10 – 12pm | Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Centre | $10 per class

Join us for at the Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Centre during NAIDOC Week for some Storytime fun and dot painting on wooden animals. This informative cultural activity tailored specifically for little ones and their parents.

Intergenerational Basket Weaving

Thursday 6 & 13 July | 1–3pm | Sullivan Hall, White Gum Valley| $5 ticket

Learn how to create a beautiful hand-woven Sari ribbon, textile, twine, and yarn basket in this two-part course. You'll leave having learnt a range of weaving, basketry, and coiling skills that can be applied to future projects. Engage in repurposing, blended with new materials which will make sure that your basket is not only functional but truly unique too. No experience is required. All materials supplied. An intergenerational activity.

Intergenerational Marcrame Plant Pot Hangers

Tuesday 11 July | 1–3pm | Sullivan Hall, White Gum Valley| $5 per class

Macramé is an old-world craft that has recently made its renaissance. At this workshop hear about the history of macrame and learn to create a range of knots and hitches from beautiful soft cotton cords that will be used to make your pot plant hanger on the day. Add beads and other embellishments to make your beautiful unique and functional hanger PLUS take-home new skills to go on making other macramé designs at home too. Your hanger will suit a small to medium pot.

No experience is required. All materials supplied.

Meningitis remains one of the most dangerous childhood infections since polio, and it is still claiming and disabling the lives of many people across Australia, mainly children in early life and young adults. In this free easy to understand 30-minute presentation, you will learn what meningitis is, what it can do, how to recognise the signs and symptoms, and how to protect yourself and your loved ones against it.
