Following strong pressure from the Member for Northern Tablelands, Adam Marshall, the Minister for Regional NSW has confirmed that the NSW Government has no plans to cancel or alter the Moree Special Activation Precinct – a critical economic and social development project for the Moree Plains Shire.
Mayor Mark Johnson is greatly relieved to have received the news that cements the future of this transformational project.
“I would again like to thank Mr Marshall for his strong advocacy for the Moree Plains. This news allows us to continue to get on with the project and be excited about the opportunities the Moree SAP will bring in terms of job creation and economic development throughout the region”.
The previous NSW Government announced in 2022, its commitment to investing $194 million in the first stage of construction of the SAP, which includes infrastructure such as roads, sewer, water and electricity services.
Mr Marshall affirmed in his recent statement “I will continue to keep up the pressure on the government to ensure this project is delivered, in line with the commitments announced last year, as it is vital for the economic future of Moree and the wider region”.
