Wyndham City is delighted to partner with the award-winning Australian arts group indirect Object to present a free exhibition and activity program that takes children on an adventure into the world of colour and light.
The free interactive program Chromatica: Colour Play features a range of workshops, installations and activities designed for children of all ages and is running between 11am to 3pm on Wednesday 5 July to Saturday 22 July 2023 at The Annex arts space, located at the Wyndham Cultural Centre, 177 Watton St, Werribee.
Wyndham City’s Creative City portfolio holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud said: “Chromatica: Colour Play is a wonderful activity for children of all ages to come and enjoy this fabulous local art-based program during the July school holidays.”
“It will be a playground of colourful immersive experiences.”
“The installations range from helping to create a glowing forest of 3D neon webs then seeing how it looks through a mirror prism to a large-scale modular kaleidoscope, where you can turn the wheels to create endlessly changing colour patterns.”
“People are encouraged to explore the installation outside of workshop sessions.”
Workshops are designed to bring out the creative side of our young residents and are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 3.30pm on 6 July to 15 July.
They include making your own small mirror prisms from recycled silver cardboard shapes, to helping to create a neon mural and watching the colours change through 3D glasses to learning how to recycle plastic and make your own sun catcher.
Run in partnership with The indirect Object, a West Melbourne collective that create immersive and educational experiences and led by experienced artists, the program is sure to be creative, engaging and lots of fun!
