Residents of all ages will benefit from events planned during July, supported by flood recovery funding.
Six events will be held throughout the Gannawarra between 3-29 July, made possible by Council teaming up with local neighbourhood houses and support providers.
Two additional events have been planned as a partnership between Northern District Community Health and Women’s Health Loddon Mallee.
“As our recovery from the October-December 2022 floods continues, being able to keep connected with our communities is an important way to support resilience and wellbeing,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
Community input into what creative programs residents would like to participate in was recently sought, with this feedback leading to the development of a program of events.
“Thanks to flood recovery support, Council and partner agencies have been able to ensure that these events are either free or have a minimal admission payment,” Mr Rollinson said.
Events that are occurring during July include:
A special Gannawarra Library Service Author Talks session with with Robert Lorenzon and his dog, Spike at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Monday, 3 July; A school holiday art program with local artist, Kerryn Finch, occurring at Kerang Neighbourhood House on 6-7 July; An afternoon of floral arranging at the Quambatook Senior Citizens Hall on Sunday, 9 July; A floral workshop at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Wednesday, 12 July; The Women Rising – Empowering Flood Recovery gathering, occurring at Northern District Community Health, Cohuna on Wednesday, 19 July; A textile relief printing (linocut) workshop with local artist, Paul Oswin, occurring at the Lake Charm Hall on Sunday, 23 July; The free Women in the Warra – Women, Workboots and Wellness luncheon, occurring at Tree Tops Scout Camp on Wednesday, 26 July; and An art workshop with the team from The Dandy Lion Studio, occurring at the Murrabit Family Hub on Saturday, 29 July.“Council acknowledges the support of partner agencies involved in organising this exciting calendar of events for our Gannawarra residents,” said Mr Rollinson.
