It’s time to renew your four-legged friend’s registration or register them for the first time in 2023!
Council has issued its animal renewal/registration notices for the period 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.
Mayor Kerry Hayes said it is a Queensland Government requirement that dogs, aged 12 weeks and over are registered with your local council.
‘This includes new animals to the region, change of ownership or those who may not have been registered in previous financial years,’ he said.
‘Registering your dogs is an important step in keeping them safe in case they escape your yard.
‘It’s not a money grab,’ he adds, ‘it helps our rangers ensure dogs are rightfully returned to their owners and helps fund our animal management facilities, dog parks and education programs.’
Annual registration is $20 for a microchipped and desexed dog, and $30 for a dog that is only microchipped or desexed.
Dog registrations are due 1 August 2023, with payment being accepted from 1 July 2023.
Non-payment of outstanding registrations will result in enforcement action and on-the-spot fines if your dog is caught wandering.
Residents can renew their dog’s registration via BPAY, register a new pet by calling 1300 242 686 or visiting their closest council office.
