Mareeba Shire Council wishes to advise residents of planned excavation works to install a new water main in Walsh Street, Mareeba commencing Friday 21 July 2023.
The works will affect traffic movements in the street, and residents are advised that Traffic Control will be in place to ensure property and pedestrian access can be maintained.
These works are low-impact and short-term as the water main will be installed in sections within the parking lanes on the western side of Walsh Street. The work is estimated to take around 6 (six) days to complete and will be completed under traffic control, with both lanes open, and single lane closures in place for short periods where required.
Council has been in contact with businesses on Rankin Street and work is scheduled to take place during lower-impact periods.
Council continues to work towards the commitments in the 10-Year Water Strategy, with major projects planned for 2023/24 including $1.6 million allocation for the replacement of ageing water pipes across the Shire which are reaching the end of their useful life. This work is critical in preventing large scale interruptions to the water supply network.
Council apologises for the inconvenience caused. For more information, please contact Council on 1300 308 461.
