The tour will feature Act III of The Sleeping Beauty. Choreographed by The Australian Ballet Artistic Staff after Marius Petipa, this excerpt includes the Grand Pas de Deux from Act III and tells the timeless fairy tale of Princess Aurora, cursed to fall asleep on her 16th birthday for 100 years before being awoken by true love’s kiss. Featuring Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s famous score alongside dazzling tutus and beloved characters, The Sleeping Beauty will leave you spellbound.
The program also features two contemporary pieces, the first being Lucas Jervies’ The Vow. Framed through the universally recognised scene of a wedding, The Vow explores the complications of love and the idea that partnership is a choice, not a destiny.
It will also feature Circle Electric, a brand-new work created by renowned choreographer Stephanie Lake to commemorate the company's diamond jubilee.
The production is part of the Albury Entertainment Centre's annual theatre season, Electrifying the Arts, made up of six new productions sourced especially for the Albury Wodonga community.
Albury Entertainment Centre Venue Manager Brendan Maher said he is extremely excited to have The Australian Ballet as part of the annual theatre season.
"The Australian Ballet has been touring to Albury for over 30 years, presenting a variety of classical ballets to our community. This year’s performance will be an exceptional way to mark their 60th year as our country's national ballet company," he said.
