Do you want to start hiking but don’t know where to begin? Then this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. With thanks to the Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries, the Shire of Collie has partnered with Adventure Connections to bring you the Hello Hiking project, for the Collie community.
The Hello Hiking project is a subsidised, five-week introduction to hiking program for Collie locals, who are interested in developing basic hiking skills by participating in weekly walkshops, increasing your confidence and ability, to venture out independently, on our fantastic walking trails.
The program commences Tuesday 1st of August, where we will have an incredible opportunity to meet with the Bibbulmun Track Foundation 25th Anniversary End to End Hikers, chat about their experience, see their gear and learn from some of the most experienced hikers. The program consists of:
1 x 3.5hr and 3 x 2hr sessions, plus one overnight walking adventure with Adventure Connections
Tuesday 1 August 1.00pm – 4.30pm Tuesdays 8 – 22 August 9.00am -11.30am Saturday 26 August 1.00pm – Sun 27 August 12.00pm Information includes such things as safety on the trails, managing common trail injuries, the importance of hydration, Leave No Trace Principles, how to correctly fit a pack, navigation and basic equipment.Cost $150 for the 5-week program.
Includes: Day packs, hiking packs, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, tents, food, transport, and resources, including maps.
