Community groups and organisations are encouraged to prepare early for potential funding applications into Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2023 Community Grants Program.
Applications for the popular program will open at 9am Tuesday, 1 August and will be accepted up to 4pm Thursday, 31 August.
“For many years, community groups that support the Gannawarra’s residents have benefited from Council’s Community Grants Program, which provides funding to local events, facility improvements and projects that foster social connections,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
As part of Council’s 2023/24 Budget, $80,000 has been allocated to support the program’s two streams:
Community Event: Up to $5,000 per application to support local events. Community Support: Up to $5,000 per application to support local projects and activities.“Successful projects need to align with the Growing Gannawarra – 2021-2025 Council Plan and/or other Council strategies which will contribute to the Gannawarra and support our community’s long-term vision,” Mayor Gillingham said.
“It is strongly encouraged that any potential applicants read the program guidelines to understand what is required for an application and if your project meets the requirements.”
Community groups can learn more about how to apply for funding from Council’s Community Grants Program by visiting www.gsc.vic.gov.au/grants
“This page features guidelines on each of the program streams, advice on how to prepare a budget and a link to a video from the 2021 Community Grants Forum, which provides advice on how to craft an application, obtain supporting information such as letters of support and quotes, guidance on completing a budget and advice on what assessors may look for when it comes to a successful application,” Mayor Gillingham said.
