During the school holidays, Ann selflessly volunteered her time to organise and lead a series of four sewing classes for people of all ages in the Coolgardie community. The classes received an overwhelmingly positive response, with participants eagerly showcasing their completed projects.
The sewing lessons provided a comprehensive introduction to beginner sewing techniques, covering topics such as different fabric types, reading patterns, and maximising sewing machine efficiency. Participants gained practical skills, including hemming pants (with Allan graciously modelling), adjusting curtains, replacing zips, as well as crafting items like bowl cosies, aprons, and placemats from scratch.
Due to the tremendous success of the sewing classes, the Coolgardie Community Recreation Centre will host a regular sewing and craft sessions, under the name 'The Crafty Chameleons.'
The groups aim is to meet new people who would like to socialise and continue on with their art/sewing projects. The Crafty Chameleons will meet each Wednesday at 10am, all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The Coolgardie Community Recreation Center (CCRC) extends its sincere appreciation to Ann for her dedication and to all the enthusiastic participants who contributed to the classes' success. The community greatly values the opportunity to learn from Ann's expertise and looks forward to further exploration of the art of sewing and crafting.
